Established Bolt Threads as the first-to-market and alternative leather leader
What: Because the Mylo consortium marked a major milestone in the fashion, bioscience and technology industries, with global fashion companies coming together
to invest in material innovation to reduce their environmental impact collectively, we wanted a top outlet to reveal this news.
How: Once the consortium news was out and first-mover status for Mylo was truly established, through relationship nurturing and ongoing proactive communications, we have been able to ensure Bolt Threads and Mylo has been a part of every conversation and story related to vegan or alternative leathers, including all those that mention its direct competitive set (who have had major celebrity and funding news themselves).

The Results – What We Achieved
Since we’ve started storytelling around Mylo, the consortium launch and brand partner news, as well as ongoing category leadership and innovation, Mylo and Bolt Threads have been included in nearly 400 unique editorial stories with 7B impressions (UVM, readers, viewers). Perhaps the most impressive coverage when it comes to widespread consumer awareness came when we secured a nearly 6-minute-long segment in mid-May with the Today Show. Bolt Threads CEO Dan Widmaier was the lead interview, with Bolt Threads and Mylo messaging and beautiful visuals from the brand woven in the entire segment about the growing “mushroom leather” trend.
